Why do I do this to myself? Why do I wander through stores "just to look!" and then end up buying a bunch of stuff? I should know better and just stay away. I guess if I'm being honest I do know better, it's just too much fun! Occasionally I am able to walk out of a store and not spend a penny, but that wasn't the case two days ago.
It all started out innocently enough. I had my downline meeting this past Saturday and Jessica brought a fantastic project to share. Part of her project involved these darling little clips.

Now I've seen binder clips before, but these were IN COLOR! Not only that, but they had soft grips on them IN COLOR! I'm a sucker for anything that I can color coordinate with my stamping stuff. I was doing fine until Jessica showed us how she altered them.
That did it for me. It's darling! I now had to go out and get some for myself. So I drive to the brand new Staples in town just to get the binder clips...nothing else! I walk into the store and what is the first thing I see? The cutest post-it notes in different colors and shapes. I instantly knew that those binder clips and those post-it notes were meant to be together in a project. I had to buy them.
Isn't that cute? Heart shaped post-it notes. See, I was justified in buying them! Notice I say "them." That's because I bought more than one shape.
I also bought the apples.
And I couldn't leave the little flowers sitting there all alone. I had to get those too.
I needed to alleviate the guilt I was feeling for buying all this stuff, so I quickly made them into coaster post-it note holders. I used a 4" square coaster (you can buy them here) and covered it in mod podge. I adhered a 4" square piece of designer series paper and sanded all of the edges with a sanding block.
I covered the binder clip with sticky strip and adhered a 1 1/4" x 2" piece of designer series paper. I stuck two dimensionals on top of each other between the metal prongs (I'm not sure what they're called) like this...
and then adhered the flowers to the dimensional. Last I added a piece of ribbon. I love the way they turned out. Now that I have a fun project to show for my impulse buying, I'm feeling a little less guilt. I used what I bought and that makes me happy. I promise not to go shopping again...until next week!
