This past week a very dear friend of mine (DellaRae) lost her husband after 50+ years of marriage. DellaRae lives three houses down from my mother-in-law and has been a friend of the family since before my husband was born. Even though I moved about 20 miles away from her, DellaRae drives to my house regularly to visit my children. She shows up at the door with McDonalds and lots of gifts and goodies for my children.
DellaRae regularly tells me that she thinks it's important that children know that somebody, besides a member of the family, loves them and cares about them. She has definitely done that for my children.
I sat down this morning to make her a card to let her know that I was thinking about her. I decided to use Julee's Mojo Monday sketch for my layout.
I love the way Almost Amethyst looks with black and white. It's a great color combination. I stamped the swirls from Baroque Motifs on Vellum in White craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I paper pierced around all three of the straight edges. I used my corner rounder to scallop the right edge of the vellum and I pierced a hole in each of the scallops.
I stamped the swirl stamp again in Almost Amethyst ink on Shimmery White cardstock. I added paper piercing around all four edges. I embossed the flower in black embossing powder on Shimmery White cardstock, cut it out, added a rhinestone brad to the center, and adhered it using dimensionals.
The black and white ribbon is from the Jersey Ribbon Originals. It's a good thing I pulled this ribbon out of its hiding place in a drawer because I didn't remember I had it. Out of sight, out of mind.
