Little Elephant Baby Cards

Normally I'm very quiet about my personal life on my blog, but I am pleased to let you all know that I'm about to be a grandma!  My first grand baby--a boy--is on the way and is due to arrive right around Halloween.  As the months are passing and the time is getting closer, I'm getting more and more excited to meet him.

Normally I don't buy any of the baby stamp sets in the catalog, but this time I did.  I saw the cute Little Elephant stamp set and coordinating punch and I had to buy it.

See how cute it is!  I punched the elephant out of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay card stock so I could mix and match the pieces.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but his little ear is attached with a dimensional so it stands out.  I used the small black Faceted Dots for the eye so it would sparkle.  The tiny heart is from the Cookie Cutter builder punch and I attached it using SNAIL adhesive.  I used one of the beautiful Pearlized Doilies behind the 2" Bermuda Bay circle and attached it to the card using dimensionals.

I wanted a smaller card so the focus would be completely on the elephant, so it measures 4 1/4" square.  I cut out a 4" x 4" piece of Pool Party card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the new Tufted embossing folder.  I love the subtlety and elegance of the diamond pattern.  After it was embossed, I attached it to the card base using dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, I added a 1" strip of Pool Party card stock after I embossed it with the Tufted embossing folder.  I finished it off by punching the Detailed Trio punch in two of the corners.

After I finished the card, I wanted to see what it would look like if I reversed the Pool Party and Bermuda Bay layers.  I think they are both super cute!

Of course once I did that, I had to try making the card using Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape for baby girl cards.

Yes, I reversed those colors too.  I even reversed the direction of the elephant.  I love the way all of these cards turned out.

Tea Room Suite

I've been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 17 years.  During that time, I have literally made hundreds of cards.  Despite that number, I still occasionally struggle trying to find the right color combination to use or deciding which designer series paper (DSP) goes well with which stamp set.  I love that Stampin' Up! has taken all of the guesswork out of that for me by designing beautiful suites where all of the products coordinate and work well together.  

As you've seen over my last couple of posts, I've featured a few of those beautiful suites from the new catalog.  Today's post is no exception.  The card I made today uses the gorgeous Tea Room Suite.

For the background, I stamped the floral image from the Time for Tea stamp set in Pool Party ink on Pool Party card stock.  I did the same for the tea cup image and then cut it out using the Spot of Tea framelits.  I chose the color scheme for the rest of the card from the Tea Room DSP.  There was a splash of Calypso Coral in the piece of DSP I used, so I cut out the scalloped shape using Calypso Coral card stock.  I wanted to add a third color so I chose Rich Razzleberry from the suite.  I added it as a layer behind the DSP and then stamped my sentiment in Rich Razzleberry ink to tie the two together.  

I used the same colors and DSP for the inside of the card.  I finished the inside off by stamping the flourish image from the stamp set three times. This card came together rather quickly because I let Stampin' Up! help with the color scheme.

Tropical Chic Thank You Card

When I first saw theTropical Escape Suite in the catalog (pages 120-121), I thought it was really pretty.  I bought the stamp set, the dies, and the coordinating designer series paper (DSP).  When I sat down to stamp with these products, I realized this stamp set is not a typical style I normally use.  I was completely out of my comfort zone.  I'm usually don't stamp a bunch of images, die-cut them, and then try to arrange them on a card.  I gave it my best shot and this is what I came up with.

I used Thick Whisper White card stock as the base for my card to give it more strength.  The pink washed background is a piece of the Tropical Escape DSP cut to 5 1/4" x 3 1/4".  I loved the subtlety of the design on the paper and how it didn't detract from the other card elements.  The two leaves at the bottom of the card are made using the Tropical thinlits.  The thinner detailed part of the leaf was cut out using Granny Apple Green card stock and the larger leaf image was cut out using Shaded Spruce card stock.  I adhered the two pieces together to make the leaf.  The flowers and the smaller leaves were stamped on regular Whisper White card stock and then cut out using the framelits.

I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White card stock using Lovely Lipstick ink and cut it out using the Pretty Label Punch.  I added a few of the Glitter Enamel Dots to the sentiment as an accent.  Even though the color of the Glitter Enamel Dots is Melon Mambo, I think it coordinated beautiful with the Lovely Lipstick ink.  I added two pieces of the Granny Apple Green textured weave ribbon behind the sentiment.  I folded each piece of ribbon into a "V" shape and used Mini Glue Dots to secure them in place.  I attached the ribbon and the sentiment to the card using dimensionals.

The inside of the card looks similar to the front.  Instead of using a piece of DSP, I used a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.  I stamped the leaf images in Shaded Spuce ink and then cut them out using the framelits.  I added three of the flowers to the center of the leaves to finish off the card.  

Even though I was out of my comfort zone making this card, I am pleased with how it turned out.  I needed this creative stretch.

Daisy Delight Cards

I recently finished helping my daughter with a big science project that involved lots of flowers.  Wherever I go, I find myself looking at flowers and seeing if I can name them.  They're everywhere this time of year and their bright colors cheer me up.  When I sat down to stamp today, I immediately reached for the Daisy Delight stamp set to play with because of the beautiful flowers in the set.

I pulled out the coordinating Daisy punch, some Calypso Coral ink, and this is the card I made.

These flowers are gorgeous!  As you can see in the image of the stamp set, the daisy doesn't have very many petals.  So I stamped the image twice, punched each image out with the Daisy punch, and layered them on top of each other.  I offset the two daisies so that the petals on the bottom flower are between each of the petals on the top flower.  It makes the flowers look so much fuller.  I attached the daisies to the card with Dimensionals and added a Clear Faceted Gem to the center.

This is the first time I used the Garden Trellis embossing folder and I love how it turned out.  It's so pretty.  It adds such an elegant look to the card.  Last, I stamped the sentiment at the top of the card.

For the inside of the card I stamped the daisy image twice in Calypso Coral ink.  I rotated the stamp slightly the second time so that the petals on the daisy would stamp in between each other.

I had so much fun making this card that I decided to see what it would look like in other colors.  

I made this card exactly the same except I used Powder Pink card stock and ink.  I used Thick Whisper White card stock as the base of the card to make it more sturdy.     I used regular Whisper White card stock to stamp the daisies on and for the layer that is embossed with the Garden Trellis embossing folder. 

The inside of the card looks the same as well.

I decided to give it a try in one more color--Pacific Point.  I think this color is my favorite of the three.

Breast Cancer Card

As soon as I saw the Ribbon of Courage stamp set in the last catalog, I knew I had to buy it.  My mom is a breast cancer survivor (11 years) so it's hard for me to see anything breast cancer related and not want to buy it.  I sat down today to play with the stamp set and coordinating dies and here's the card I came up with.

I looked through my stash of designer series paper (DSP) to see what I had that was pink.  I found this beautiful paper in the Gardens Impressions DSP.  I think the shades of pink work really well with this card.  

I stamped the ribbon in Blushing Bride ink and then cut it out using the Support Ribbon framelits.  I attached it to the stitched oval and the scalloped Oval using Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White card stock.  Then I punched it out using the Classic Label punch.  The punched shape is much longer than the sentiment, so I put one end of it back into the Classic Label punch so I could cut it shorter.

The large white panel looked a little plain, so I added some texture using the Sparkle embossing folder.  I only embossed the right side so that there wouldn't be texture under the strip of DSP.

For the inside of the card I added another strip of the DSP and I finished it off with this beautiful sentiment.

Flying Pig Card

I had so much fun making this card today.  Every time I look at it, I smile.

Isn't that little pig so cute?  She looks so happy which makes me happy too.

I stamped the pig using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock.  I cut the Whisper White card stock out using the Layering Circles framlits so I could layer it on the Rich Razzleberry scalloped circle.  I stamped the pig a second time on Petal Pink card stock.  Then I took a pair of scissors and cut around the pigs body on the Petal Pink card stock and glued it on top of the pig I stamped on the Whisper White circle.  It was too difficult to cut around the pig's curly tail, so I cut it off.  Instead, I took the Petal Pink marker and colored in the pig's tail on the Whisper White card stock.  This is a quick and easy way to "color in" the pig.

The Rich Razzleberry banner piece comes from the Nature's Poem designer series paper (DSP).  It looks like a solid color in the picture, but there are subtle stripes on the DSP.  I used the Banner Triple punch to make the banner end.

I wanted to add some texture to the Petal Pink card stock so I ran it through the Big Shot using the Oh My Stars embossing folder.  It looks like little fireworks going off in the background celebrating the pig's accomplishment.

Last, I wanted to add a little bling to the card.  I colored in the pig's wings with the Wink of Stella marker.  Although the wings look grey in the picture, these wings shimmer and sparkle.  I also added some Silver Metallic Edge ribbon so the silver would tie in to the glimmer on the wings.  So cute!

The inside of the card has similar elements to the front of the card.  A small strip of the same DSP (you can see the stripes a little better here), a few embossed stars below the DSP, and of course I finished the sentiment.  She believed she could.....so she did.  I love it!

This is what the entire stamp set looks like.  Isn't it cute?  There's no way I could turn down those happy faces.  I had to buy the stamp set and add it to my collection.

Stepped Up Love What You Do

I'm back with another card to show you using the Share What You Love Suite (pages 176-177 of the new catalog).  This was actually one of the first cards I made when I got my preorder of stamping products.

Even though this uses the same suite as the card yesterday, I chose another piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the card so it uses a different color combination.  I inked up the background stamp in Crumb Cake ink and then stamped it off first on a piece of scratch paper before stamping it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the flower image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then filled in the flowers using Rich Razzleberry ink.  

As you can tell by the last few cards that I've made, I can't seem to stop using the Stitched Shapes framelit set.  I love the stitched look it leaves around the edge.  I also like to adhere it to a scalloped layer.  It's so quick and easy and adds a nice focal point to the card.

I finished the card with a strip of DSP, some Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon, and a sentiment stamped in the corner.  This card came together in minutes.

For the inside of the card, I added another strip of DSP on top of a layer of Mossy Meadow card stock.  So simple and pretty.

Once I finished the card, I felt that I made it too simple.  I kept looking at it and knew that I could add a few more items to step it up a little bit--so that's what I did.

I switched the Rich Razzleberry scalloped oval from the first card to a Basis Black scalloped oval so it tied in with the Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon.  I took the Crumb Cake card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves embossing folder to add some dimension to the card.  I also took the sentiment and stamped it on Whisper White card stock.  I flagged the end of the card stock using the Banner Triple punch and then layered it onto some Basic Black card stock.  I adhered all of the layers to the Crumb Cake card stock with Dimensionals.

I also stepped up the inside of the card a little bit by adding some Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon across the strip of DSP.  The changes I made were simple, but it adds so much more interest to the card.

Love What You Do Card

Today I'm back with another beautiful card to show you.  This card came together quickly because I let the beauty of the Share What You Love suite (pages 176-177 in the new catalog) do all of the work.

Isn't that gorgeous?  It uses the same color scheme as the card I posted yesterday. I sometimes struggle deciding which colors of card stock to use together, so I let Stampin' Up! do all of the work for me.  On each pack of designer series paper (DSP), it lists all of the colors of card stock that will coordinate with the DSP.  It takes all of the guess work out of it and I'm left with beautiful color combinations every time.

This card is 5 1/4" square.  In order to break up the background, I added three strips of DSP cut 1 3/8" wide to the Tranquil Tide layer.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower right of my circle and then layered that on a Tranquil Tide scalloped circle cut from the Layering Circles framelits.  I wanted to add some flowers around the sentiment, so I cut them out of an extra piece of DSP.  The largest flower is popped up on dimensionals.  I finished off the card with some Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon tied in a bow.  The shimmer from the ribbon ties in well with the shimmer on the DSP.

I usually decorate the inside of my card as well because I like for the inside to coordinate with the card front.  I added a piece of Whisper White card stock on top of the Tranquil Tide layer so I would have a lighter color to write my message on.  I added a small strip of the DSP and a piece of the Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon as well.

Abstract Impressions Bundle

Recently I participated in a Control Freak swap using some of the new products that demonstrators could order early from the new catalog.  I pulled together a few of my favorite products and came up with this card.

This card features the Abstract Impressions bundle.  I used the Springtime Impressions thinlits from the bundle to cut out the two flowers layered on top of each other next to the sentiment.  I added one of the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls to the center of the flowers and attached it to the sentiment using a dimensional.  I used the largest die from the thinlit set to cut out the group of flowers in Tranquil Tide card stock.  The die cut piece was really large, so I cut it down smaller and attached it behind the sentiment pointing towards the top left corner of the card.  

I absolutely love the new Share What You Love designer series paper (DSP), so I decided to use it on my card.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but the large flowers on the DSP have a beautiful shimmer to them.  It's so pretty in real life.  The Mint Macaron layer is embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.  The shapes of the leaves from the embossing folder coordinate beautifully with the DSP. 

For the inside of the card, I added a layer of Mint Macaron on top of the Tranquil Tide card base so I'm not writing on a dark colored card stock.  I also added a small strip of DSP so that it coordinates with the front of the card.  I haven't stamped much lately so I was really pleased with how this card turned out.  I hope my fellow swap participants enjoyed them as well.
