Heart Framelits Card

Today I have a quick, easy card to show you (click here to see more quick and easy cards that I have posted on my blog).  The inspiration for this card came from Elaine.  I received one of her gorgeous cards at my last downline meeting and I had to give it a try.

I love the way the designer series paper shows through the heart.  Both of the hearts were made from the Hearts Framelits Collection.  After I cut the big heart out of the River Rock cardstock with my Big Shot, I popped that layer up on dimensionals. 

For the sentiment I stamped it first and then centered it in one of the smaller Heart Framelits.   After I cut it out using the Big Shot, I sponged around the edges.   I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals.

For the inside of the card I wanted to keep the heart theme going so I used the Pinking Hearts Border punch along the bottom of the DSP.  I finished it off with the same ribbon I used on the front of the card.  Like I said, it was a quick and easy card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Matchbox Messages

I can't believe it's November already.  Halloween is already over and it doesn't quite feel like the holidays yet to me.  Maybe it's because of the really warm weather we've been having here lately.  Whatever the reason, I hope it begins to feel more like fall and the holidays before Thanksgiving gets here!

As usual, I am in need of thank you cards so I sat down to make some today.

It's a very simple card yet it turned out really nice.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but I added paper piercing in all of the scallops on the scalloped circle.  The strip across the middle is a piece of wide Chocolate Chip grosgrain with a piece of thinner Whisper White grosgrain on top of that.  The texture of the ribbon and the texture on the DSP go really nicely together.

I used a similar design for the inside of my card.  I kept it simple so that the card would close and still lay flat.  That's pretty much it.  Thanks for stopping by!

Button Buddies 3x3

Whenever I'm stuck in a stamping rut and can't figure out what to make, I usually will start with a little 3x3 card.  They're easy to make and I can quickly make a card in a matter of a few minutes.

The flower comes from the Button Buddies stamp set.  I love how all of the images in the stamp set was made to coordinate with buttons.  This helps encourage me to actually use my buttons rather than hoard them.  Such a novel concept, isn't it? 

Now that I've had a few minutes to stamp, it's back to reality--cleaning house, running errands, and picking up kids.  I hope you have a wonderful day today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Quilled Flower

After I posted my card yesterday, I sat back down at my stamp table and decided to try another card with a different punch.  Here's what I came up with.

The paper that I used for the quilling measures 1/8" x 8 1/2".  I wrapped each of them tightly around the end of my paper stylus and then let them uncurl before I glued them in place.  It's a quick and easy project and the quilling adds so much interest to the card.  Give it a try.  Thanks for stopping by!

Quilled 3x3

I was looking through my September 2011 Stampin' Success magazine (for Stampin' Up! demonstrators) and there was an article on paper quilling.  One of the projects caught my eye and I had to give it a try.

The original card was standard size, but I decided to make mine into a little 3x3 card.  I love how the swirls fit perfectly on the heart punch.

If you're looking for some directions and tips on how paper quill, click here to see a tutorial I wrote a few weeks ago.  The paper that I used on the heart was 1/8" x 11".  I folded the paper in half and then curled each end separately using the rounded end of my paper stylus. 

I used Tombow Mono Multipurpose adhesive to hold the quilled piece in place.  I made a small puddle of glue on a paper plate and then dipped the cardstock into it.  I glued the "v" part of the heart in place first and then worked my way up towards the swirls at the top.  I held the pieces in place with my fingers until the glue dried.  It only took a few seconds.

Give Thanks

You know what goes hand-in-hand with kids going back to school?  Back to school colds...ugh!  My angels brought home a lovely cold that knocked me out.  While I have a little bit more energy today, I'm ready for a nap already.  I have some darling projects to show you (and a tutorial too), but I simply don't have the energy to sit at the computer and edit the photos and write the posts.  As I get better and my headache goes away, it will get done.

In the meantime I wanted to show you some quick thank you cards that I made. 

They are very simple and use up some patterned paper scraps that I've had floating around.   I made 20 cards using the pre-cut and pre-scored 3 1/2" x 5" cards and envelopes that Stampin' Up! sells.

I made these cards for a friend whose parents and both of her daughters were involved in a serious car accident.  After 6-7 weeks in the hospital, multiple surgeries, etc., all four of them are now at home while they finish recovering.  Many people have stepped in to help her out so I thought she could use some thank you cards.  Remember to never take your loved ones for granted.

Last Make and Take

Yesterday I took a couple of hours and tried to organize and clean my stamp room.  I made quite a dent in the mess, but it still needs lots of work.  It's a never ending battle.  The good part is that I can now see the top of my stamp desk so now I can stamp. 

A while ago I posted the make and take projects from convention, but I mentioned that I was missing one of the projects.  I finally have it done and ready to show you.

This is a 3x3 card and it was quick and easy to make.  The most difficult part was threading the linen thread through the hole in the pennant (sentiment) and even that wasn't too hard.  I think the whole card is pretty self-explanatory.  If you have any questions on how to make it, just let me know.  Thanks for stopping by!

Easy Events Stamp Set

This morning I had the chance to sneak into my stamp room for a little bit and get some stamping done.  It felt wonderful!  I started with this simple sketch.

This was the perfect sketch to use for the thank you cards I needed to make.

I tried to keep the layout flat so it wouldn't cost me extra postage to mail.  For some reason my post office here in town loves to charge me extra postage if there's even the slightest lump in the envelope.  If I mail my cards from the next town over, they mail them without the extra postage even if they're lumpy.  However I'd spend more in gas driving to the next town to mail them than it would cost in extra postage.  I can't seem to win so I keep them flat.

I used the Easy Events stamp set that I got for free at convention.  I love the variety of images in the stamp set and how quickly you can make cards using them.  All you need to do is change the colors I used and change the stamped image to another image in the stamp set and you've got a great variety of cards to send out for any occasion.

I used the same punched layers for the inside of the card to keep the look uniform.  That's it...quick and simple!  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Gift Tags

The day before convention started I had the opportunity to attend a stamping event put on by my up-up-up-upline (I think).  I forget how many people are between her and I.  I've finally had a chance to finish all of the projects so I can share them with you.  Three of the projects that we made were birthday gift tags.

Isn't that darling?  I love the Button Buddies stamp set and how each of the images coordinates with our buttons.  The wavy blue layer was cut out of Designer Series Paper using the Tasteful Trim Big Shot die.  The sentiment was popped up on dimensionals and I drew a line under the word "Happy."

To make this tag, I inked up the cherry stems and leaf with a marker and stamped them on the cardstock.  Then I made the cherries from two 3/4" circles punched from the Red Glimmer paper.  I attached them with dimensionals.  After stamping the sentiment, I attached the strip of DSP and the zigzag line (from the Tasteful Trim Big Shot die), trimmed them to size, and adhered it all to the Riding Hood Red circle.  Last I punched two holes at the top, threaded the ribbon through the holes, and tied a bow.

I love this little pig!  It's another darling image from the Button Buddies stamp set.  I started by stamping the pig in Regal Rose ink on the Whisper White scalloped circle.  I stamped the pig again in Pretty in Pink ink on a scrap piece of cardstock, punched out the face, and attached it using dimensionals.   For the snout I added a 1/2" circle with a dimensional, and then adhered one of our clear buttons on top.

With Love

I am thoroughly enjoying my summer vacation.  The kids and I have been swimming, going to the movies, staying up late, and goofing off.  We're even planning a slumber party in the living room.  They're growing up so fast and I'm trying to soak in as much of it as I can. 

While they were playing today, I snuck into my stamp room for a few minutes to stamp.  I needed some cards to go on top of plates of cookies and here's what I came up with.

These little 3x3 cards were so simple to make.  As you can see in the photo, I mounted both stamps on the same acrylic block so that they were lined up perfectly.  All I had to do was ink them up with markers and stamp.  They can't get any easier than that.
