Viva la Verve Challenge

Today I was able to sneak away to my stamp room for a little bit.  I surfed around on the web for some inspiration and found this great Viva la Verve sketch challenge.



As you can read on the sketch, there's a twist to this one.  Leave as much white space as you can!  Personally I *love* color so this was a challenge for me. 

 

I don't have any white designer series paper, so I made my own with my Birds and Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I opened the embossing folder and took a Regal Rose marker and colored in all of the grooves of the design like this...



Then I put a piece of Whisper White cardstock in the folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  Not all of the color transferred everywhere, but I still liked the effect.  It highlighted the birds and swirls and helped break up a little bit of the white space.

 

I kept the inside of my card pretty simple too so it would coordinate with the front of my card.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~Dannie

Be Still

I decided that I would take care of myself today so I made some time to stamp.  It felt so good too!  It has been way too long.  I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have left me comments or sent me emails saying that I'm in your thoughts and prayers or that you miss me.  It means so much to me and I appreciate each one of you.  Thank you!  I'm glad you like my new profile picture too.

I saw this mojo sketch challenge over a week ago and knew I had to play along.





Isn't that a beautiful sentiment?  That's one of the most difficult things for me to do--be still and have faith that it will all work out.  If you like this stamp, you can find it at Verve Stamps. 

I have just a few quick notes about the card.  I sponged around all the edges of the Bella Rose DSP with Chocolate Chip ink.  I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and then embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  I also pulled out my sewing machine and sewed around the edges of the layers.



The inside of my card matches the basic layout of the front.  I sponged ink around the edges of the DSP, I sewed around the edges, and I added a piece of matching Chocolate Chip Wide Grosgrain.
