For about two weeks now I've had an idea I wanted to try with my Big Shot and the Felt Flurries Snowflakes. I finally got time this morning to try my idea and it worked.
For a tutorial on how to make these scalloped circle cards, see my post here. I used the Scallop Circle #2 die and this is the larger of the two scallops on that die. I used my Coluzzle to cut the circled layers. Although I wouldn't think of brown as a traditional Christmas color, I love the way it goes with the other colors in the Ski Slope designer series paper.
I wanted to only use Baja Breeze and White on this card, but the white felt snowflake kept getting lost on the busy designer series paper beneath it. It was really difficult to see. I used a Riding Hood Red snowflake instead which helped it stand out from the DSP under it.
I decided to turn this DSP on its side so the stripes were going at a diagonal. I added a light blue Rhinestone Brad to the center of each of the snowflakes. I adhered the snowflake by using a Mini Glue Dot on the back of each of the Rhinestone Brads. I should have attached this Rhinestone Brad through the circle layers beneath it because the legs of the brad were showing under the white snowflake. I had to take some wire snips and cut off the legs of the brad so they wouldn't show.
This Baja Breeze snowflake has a huge hole in the center (that's the way it's made). I covered it by adding the smaller Riding Hood Red snowflake on top. I used another Rhinestone Brad to hold both snowflakes together.
I tell you all the time how much I love piercing holes in the center of each scallop. It was all I could do not to pull out my paper piercer and start punching holes in each of these cards. I decided not to though because I didn't want the rough backside of the holes showing on the inside of my card. It took a lot of restraint, but I somehow managed (LOL!).
I'll be back tomorrow with a fun card to show you along with an exciting announcement. I'll see you then! ~Dannie
