Today I've been playing with my Sizzix Big Shot. Do you want to see what I made with the Scalloped Circle #2 die?
A scalloped circle card! Here's how I made it. I stared with a 7 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece of Not Quite Navy cardtsock. I folded it in half and placed it on the Scalloped Circle #2 die as shown in the picture below.
I placed the piece of cardstock so it covered the entire larger scalloped circle (there are two scalloped circles on this die) *except* for the tips of two of the scallops. Make sure it's the folded edge of your cardstock that's right below the two scalloped tips. Here's a closer look.
The scallops were so faint in the photo that I drew white lines over them so you could see them better. Now you see why I'm a rubber stamper--because I can't draw to save my life. Drawing on the computer is even more difficult for me. So imagine that the white lines are two nicely rounded scallops on the die.
Once you have your cardstock positioned correctly, sandwich the die and cardstock between two cutting plates and roll it through the Big Shot. Your card will now look like this when you're finished.
The two "flat" scallops at the top are the folded edge of your card that hold the front and back together.
I tied some Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla double-sided satin ribbon around the "flat" scallops. I stamped the stem image in Kiwi Kiss on Very Vanilla cardstock, added the sentiment, and punched it out with the new 1 3/4" circle punch. I used my Coluzzle to cut the other two circle layers.
The finished card is about 3 1/2" wide. While it won't fit in a standard envelope, it would make a great card to put on top of a plate of goodies or a tag on a gift bag.
If you decide to give these scalloped circle cards a try, I'd love to see what you make. Leave a comment on this post with a link to your project. Thanks for stopping by! ~Dannie

Dannie, I did this with the largest scallop die and used DSP and loved the effect! I didn't finish the card, though - just did the basic card. I LOVE how we can make cards from our Top Notes dies too!! SO cool!

You are just too clever! Love this idea. Now I don't have to scratch my head wondering how many packs of the scallop notes I'd have to get to get multiples in one color. Duh...I'll just buy a die and make some over and over and over after seeing this great tip from you...plus have a folding card intead of just one layer. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas you share!

Thanks so much for the tutorial! I love your card! Another helpful hint: If you want the card front to have an "uniterupted" scallop, all you have to do is die-cut another scalloped circle and attach it to the card you made! This will give the appearance that the card is not hinged. I used this trick when I didn't want to tie a bow around the top!
Very clever!
Thanks for sharing!
